Air Commodore Henry Austin Probert was appointed to the post of Head of the Air Historical Branch in 1978, a post he held until 1989. Probert helped to found the Royal Air Force Historical Society. The Bursary celebrates Probert's consistent contribution to furthering the historiography of the RAF
